This is a beautiful 1972 Citroen SM. The “Sa Majeste” (Her Royal Highness in French) was delivered new in Genoa, Italy. The car came to the Netherlands in 1986 and was first registered in the Netherlands in 1990. Since then, the car has had two more owners who have always taken very good care of the car.

A few years ago it was decided to completely restore the exterior of the SM and at the same time, the technology was completely overhauled. The result is not only a beautiful SM to look at, but also to drive.

The body is still in beautiful condition and looks very nice. The sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. Items such as the chrome-plated mouldings are also in excellent condition and fit in nicely everywhere. The headlights on this car are behind Plexiglas, which also looks very good. The paint has of course been repainted once and has only very light traces of use. The car is on the original wheels fitted with good tires in the correct sizes. Finally, the original SM towbar must not remain unnamed. The towbar has been on it from the moment the car was delivered new and is original from Citroën.

The interior is equipped with the original beige colored leather which not only looks beautiful but is also still very supple. During the restoration, it was decided not to completely reupholster the interior because it was simply not necessary and the unique patina of the beautiful original leather would be lost. In addition, all instruments and controls work exactly as they should and the headlining is also in excellent condition. The existing air conditioning ensures that the temperature in the car does not rise too much, even in hot weather. The air conditioning was extensively serviced last year and is stone cold.

The car has always been maintained by a well-known Citroën SM specialist. The technique was completely overhauled during the restoration. The engine, therefore, runs perfectly and the transmission can also be operated very precisely. The Maserati-derived V6 is a jewel of an engine and in this case, delivers 168 horsepower to the front wheels and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The driving experience that an SM offers is second to none. It is therefore not surprising that SM still has a large group of loyal fans. From the hydraulic suspension to the beautiful styling, there is no limit to the uniqueness of the SM concept.

It is not only the optical or technical good condition that makes this car such a proposition but even the beautiful documentation that comes with the car. For example, even the import documents have been preserved, there is a photo series available, the original manual is available and the invoices for maintenance over the past years are available. All you have to do is hum your favourite chanson and look for your favourite French B-road, L'Amour toujours indeed.
