"The 1950 MG TD combined the TC’s drivetrain, a modified hypoid-geared rear axle, the MG Y-Type chassis, a familiar T-Type style body and independent suspension using coil springs from the MG Y-Type Saloon. Also new was the rack and pinion steering, smaller 15” disc type road wheels, and standard equipment bumpers with over-riders. Nearly 30,000 MG TD’s have been produced, including some 1,700 Mk. II models. When the series ended in 1953, all but 1,656 were exported with 23,488 of them going to the United States. An example tested by The Motor magazine in 1952 had a top speed of 77mph and could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 18.2 seconds.
This original UK supplied righthand drive MG TD offered here is fitted with a replacement 1250cc engine however comes complete with its original 1250cc unit. Presented in black with a red leather interior, the paintwork is generally very good showing very few blemishes throughout. The interior also presents well showing a light patina to the seats and dashboard. First registered to the most recent vendor in 1962 the TD has been laid up in dry storage for the past 10 years due to the vendors ill health. Recently recommissioned the MG has been treated to a set of new tyres, a new fuel pump and new fuel lines as well as a new windscreen. Reported to be in good driving condition, the MG comes with a comprehensive history file detailing previous maintenance work and also includes a buff logbook, the current V5 registration document and various sundry invoices. Presented in a very attractive colour combination with a well-documented history. Ready to be enjoyed by a new custodian.
