Beschreibung

"The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960's motoring. There have been few better summaries of the E-Type's manifest virtues than the forgoing, penned by the inimitable John Bolster for Autosport shortly after the car's debut. Conceived and developed as an open sportscar, the Jaguar E-Type debuted at the Geneva Salon in Coupé form. The car caused a sensation - spontaneous applause breaking out at the unveiling - with its instantly classic lines and a 140mph-plus top speed. The design owed much to that of the racing D-Type, a monocoque tub forming the main structure while a tubular spaceframe extended forwards to support the engine. The latter was the 3.8-litre, triple-carburettor, 'S' unit first offered as an option on the preceding XK150.
Originally registered on 12th March 1965, this Jaguar was originally a factory built coupé. However when undergoing a total restoration in 1989, the vendor purchased a roadster bodyshell from Martin Robey and re-bodied the car as a convertible. A new bonnet, doors and frames were also fitted. At the same time, a number of improvements were made to the car, namely a brake upgrade and the fitment of a five speed gearbox and a stainless steel exhaust. The engine has also been rebuilt with larger inlet valves, new pistons and balanced accordingly. A high torque starter motor and Kenlowe cooling fan have also been fitted. Finished in Carmen Red with black interior, this Jaguar is in excellent condition throughout and the vendor describes the car as driving with no known faults. Sitting proudly on a set of Dunlop SP tyres, this Jaguar E-Type is supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate valid until 21st March 2019 together with a history file dating back to 1989 when the car was converted.
