Originally a Maserati color, Nero Carbino Metallic is one of the most interesting shades of black one could option on a Ferrari, a rich metallic that appears grey in some light, subtle yet complex. It is believed that there were only eighteen 550 Maranellos originally delivered in Nero Carbonio and of those, just four examples were trimmed in black leather interior, including the example offered here.

Built to European specifications, this 550 Maranello was delivered new to Dieter Griesenbach of Hausen, Germany via Eberline Automobile in January of 1997. A subsequent bill of sale from Eberlin Automobile shows that the car was sold to its second owner in Vienna, Austria in July of 2007 via Eberlin Automobile. After arriving in Austria, it was serviced by the official Ferrari service center of Baron Service GmbH in Vienna in August 2007. The car had moved back to Germany in 2013. An invoice on file from Munsterhuis Sportscars, an official Ferrari dealership in the Netherlands, in 2015 shows some minor repairs which included wheels repairs as well as a major service with replacement of the timing belts totaling to €5,799.53. Remaining in Germany until 2024, the car was imported to the U.S. and subsequently registered in Michigan. Today, the car is showing just 19,889 km (12.358 mi) on its odometer at the time of cataloging. Importantly, the car is accompanied by a complete tool kit.

The spiritual successor to Ferrari’s iconic 365 GTB/4 Daytona, the 550 Maranello brought the front-engined, V-12 Ferrari grand tourer back in style to great fanfare, and it remains a car beloved by enthusiasts for its stunning good looks, excellent performance, and overall usability. With the European-specification 550 Maranellos only just starting to make their way into the United States, examples finished in interesting colors such as this help to stand out in the proverbial sea of Rosso Corsa, and this example warrants close consideration.
