Introduced in 1996 as the successor to the mid-engined F512 M, the 550 Maranello was Ferrari's first two-seat, front-engined V12 flagship since the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Pininfarina's muscular coupe body concealed a 485-CV, 5.5-liter V12 paired with a rear-mounted six-speed manual transaxle, and just 3,083 examples were built before the 575M assumed its place in 2002.

This handsome Nero Daytona over Cuoio example, chassis number 119828, was sold new through official Ferrari dealer Walter Hasler AG of Frick, Switzerland. The sophisticated specification is further highlighted by matching black brake calipers, and inside, Daytona-style seats set against a diamond-stitched leather headliner and parcel shelf. Its service and warranty booklet records delivery in July 2000 to its first owner in Othmarsingen, in the canton of Aargau, and reflects regular attention in Swiss hands. Walter Hasler AG serviced the car four times between October 2000 and October 2003, by which point it had covered 36,122 km. Garage Erb of Umiken bei Brugg then assumed maintenance, stamping the book in 2006 and again in 2009, when the 50,000-km-interval service was completed at 50,974 km. The 550 resided for several years in a private Swiss collection before being registered in the Netherlands, later returning to Italy in 2025.

In February 2026, the berlinetta received its most recent major service at Officina Prampolini Mauro & C. in Carrara at 57,233 km. The work comprised replacement of the timing belts along with new alternator and power-steering belts, fresh oil and transmission fluid, air filters, all 12 spark plugs, power-steering fluid, and front brake pads. Registered in Italy in 2026, the car holds Registro Fiat Italiano certificate number 207/26, and has also passed its roadworthiness inspection in July 2026 at 57,504 km.

The car is offered with four pieces of Schedoni luggage in matching Cuoio, a tool kit, owner's literature in its leather document wallet, and a spare parts catalog. The odometer shows just 57,518 km traveled from new at the time of cataloging.
