Introduced in 1972 for the 1973 model year, the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was developed to homologate the 911 for FIA Group 4 competition. Initially planned as a limited run of 500 cars, demand was so strong that Porsche ultimately built 1.580 examples. Powered by a 2.7L flat-six producing 210 HP, it was the most powerful production 911 of its time! The RS featured weight-saving measures, wider rear wheel arches and the now-famous "ducktail" rear spoiler, the first on a production car to provide measurable aerodynamic benefits. Available in Touring and Lightweight versions, it combined everyday usability with exceptional track performance. Its success led directly to the development of the 2.8 RSR, which dominated GT racing in the early 1970s. Revered for its balance, responsiveness and mechanical purity, the Carrera RS 2.7 became the benchmark for all future Rennsport models. Today, it is widely regarded as one of the greatest sports cars ever built and remains one of the most desirable classic Porsches in the world!

Delivered new in February of 1973 at Marcel Balsa (Official Porsche Dealer) in Maison-Alfort, France, chassis 911 360 0260 is one of the original Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 models produced during the legendary 1973 model year. Built as part of the first homologation series, it represents one of Porsche's most celebrated road-going sports cars. Shortly after leaving the factory, the car entered competition in France, where it was campaigned by his first owner and driver Gérard Pirès in the French GT championship. Contemporary records show appearances at Montlhéry, La Châtre and Croix-en-Ternois during the 1973 season, with notable second-place overall finishes at both La Châtre and Croix-en-Ternois. This documented period racing history distinguishes chassis 0260 from many other Carrera RS examples, adding an authentic competition pedigree to its provenance. Today, it stands as a fine example of the Carrera RS's dual character: a road car developed for homologation that proved equally capable on the racing circuit, embodying the lightweight engineering, reliability and performance that made the RS 2.7 an enduring icon in Porsche history!

In 2024, the car underwent a comprehensive restoration by Roock Sportsystem, one of Germany's most respected Porsche specialists, ensuring that it remains faithful to its original character while preserving its historical significance.
