The DB6 represents the final development of the much-exalted David Brown series of cars and incorporated a number of changes to make it the most refined and luxurious of the line. The market reflects this with the later cars being the most popular.
The DB6, launched in 1965, shared much with the previous DB5 including the proven 3,995cc engine. However in Vantage specification a revised head, increased compression ratio and triple Weber 45 DCOE carburettors raised power to 325bhp at 5750rpm from the standard 282bhp. This endowed the Vantage with prodigious performance; The Motor recorded a 0-60mph time of just 6.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 148mph, the fastest of any British production car at the time.
