model history
Modell 1302 L – Luxus
The 1302 L was the more luxurious version of the model range, distinguished by additional chrome detailing, a more refined interior.
The L package, with L standing for Luxus, gave the classic Volkswagen Beetle a more luxurious appearance and greater comfort. On the outside, chrome bumper trim and dual rubber strips provided a refined finish. Reversing lights were integrated into the rear light assemblies, while twin ventilation slots in the engine lid helped cool the dual-port engine.
The interior also received several upgrades, including a fully padded dashboard, two sun visors with a passenger-side vanity mirror, and a standard fuel gauge. The seats featured fabric inserts or premium leatherette upholstery, along with adjustable backrests. The package also included a lockable glove compartment, door pockets, and an ashtray for rear passengers. A clock was available as an option. A two-speed fresh-air blower and a ventilation system with seven outlets provided additional airflow throughout the cabin.
our car
Ein Klassiker mit Charakter.
Some cars stand the test of time without ever losing their charm. This 1971 Volkswagen Beetle 1302 L is a wonderful example.
Finished in the distinctive Clementine (L20D), its warm orange colour, classic chrome details, bronze ATS alloy wheels and original steel sunroof capture the unmistakable spirit of the early 1970s.
Built on 27 April 1971, this Beetle was originally delivered new in Germany by Autohaus Kolb, Volkswagen dealer in München-Schwabing.
An interesting chapter in its history is the more than fifteen years it spent in the ownership of a German physician who was also a car collector. This long period of ownership adds an appealing personal touch to the history of this characterful Volkswagen.
Technik & Pflege
At the rear sits the familiar air-cooled 1300 AB flat-four engine, displacing 1,285 cc and producing 44 DIN horsepower.
The car is currently in excellent condition. Partial restoration work has been carried out, and various components have been renewed, including the ATS alloy wheels, tyres, bumpers and floor mat set. The brake hoses and wheel cylinders have also been replaced, and the engine oil has been changed.

The warm Clementine paintwork, classic chrome detailing and steel sunroof give this 1302 L the timeless character that makes an early 1970s Beetle so appealing.
