Beschreibung

🇬🇧 🇩🇪
For sale is an exceptional 1991 VW Golf GLI Cabriolet – a car in a specification that would be extremely difficult to find a second time. When it comes to individuality, there are virtually no limits here.
Its history alone makes it particularly interesting: the Cabriolet was originally produced and delivered for the Singapore market. The VW factory data lists the country code SGP = Singapore and sales type 154234. The designation 154 identifies the rarer right-hand-drive version of the Golf I Cabriolet.
The car was produced on 6 February 1991 and originally delivered in Alpine White, with a black soft top and black/black interior. In keeping with its Singapore specification, the original equipment includes M-code 187 – headlights for left-hand traffic and M-code 188 – hot-climate specification with uprated radiator cooling.
In 2011, the car was shipped from Singapore to Germany to undergo an exceptionally comprehensive two-year restoration. This was by no means simply a cosmetic refurbishment – no expense or effort was spared in rebuilding the car to the highest possible standard, both technically and visually.
The work included a complete overhaul of the engine and its peripheral components, renewal of the transmission, as well as extensive overhaul or renewal of the fuel-injection system, vehicle electrics and wiring, cooling system, exhaust system, steering, suspension, axles and bearings. The soft-top mechanism was also overhauled.
The bodywork was comprehensively restored and completely repainted, including the engine compartment and underside, together with extensive corrosion protection. The bare body shell and numerous vehicle components were ice-blasted, while various parts were refinished or galvanically treated.
An absolute highlight is the bespoke interior.
The front and rear seats were retrimmed in a combination of special fabric and black Nappa leather. The door and rear side panels, centre console, steering wheel, complete dashboard including the glovebox, as well as numerous other interior and luggage-compartment panels, were extensively finished in black Nappa leather. The luggage-compartment carpeting was also individually tailored and finished with leather edging.
This is no ordinary Golf Cabriolet and certainly no ordinary restoration – it is a car for someone looking for something truly special. When it comes to individuality, there are virtually no limits here.
The comprehensive restoration is fully documented, and a detailed breakdown of the work carried out and the associated costs is available. The documentation clearly demonstrates the exceptional level of investment that went into this car.
The cost of the complete restoration and refurbishment significantly exceeds our current asking price.
The car is now registered in Germany and has been granted historic vehicle status with a German “H” registration.
Another noteworthy aspect is its remarkably short ownership history: 1st owner in Singapore, 2nd owner with German registration.
🇩🇪 one of one VW GOLF GLI CABRIOLET auf höchsten Niveau aufwendig restauriert Rechtslenker Unikat
Besitzer in Singapur, 2. Besitzer mit deutscher Zulassung.
