This 1971 Volvo P1800E Coupe is a particularly striking example, finished in the rare and eye-catching color Safari Yellow. In our opinion, it is a shade that perfectly complements the flowing lines of this classic Volvo.

Originally introduced in 1960, the Volvo P1800 marked a bold departure from the brand’s typically conservative image. Instead of boxy shapes and reserved practicality, the world was introduced to a sleek sports coupe with elegant curves and a distinctive presence. It gained iconic status thanks in part to the TV series The Saint, where Roger Moore famously drove one with effortless style. That pairing—a refined gentleman and a refined car—is still etched in automotive memory.

In 1971, the model gained the suffix “E,” standing for Einspritzung, the German word for fuel injection. With Bosch electronic injection, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine was boosted to around 130 horsepower, giving the P1800E a livelier character. Safety was improved too, with disc brakes fitted on all four wheels as standard from this version onward.

The car offered here was originally delivered new in Oregon, USA, and has been lovingly cared for ever since. It was later rebuilt, staying true to its original and unmodified form. As a result, this P1800 is in fantastic condition, both inside and out. Maintenance has been entrusted to a respected Volvo specialist in the Netherlands, and it shows. The car drives beautifully, the gearbox shifts smoothly, and the suspension performs silently and precisely.

The vibrant color immediately catches the eye. The bodywork is clean and crisp, the interior tasteful, and under the hood everything is meticulously maintained. It still comes with its original blue document folder, including the service booklet, owner’s manual, and a substantial collection of invoices that trace its care over at least the past 25 years. Such thorough documentation is rare and speaks volumes about the dedication this car has received over the decades.

What you get here is more than just a beautifully designed classic. It is a dependable Volvo built by a marque renowned for safety and solidity. Add a touch of Hollywood flair, and you have a coupe that is both timeless and truly special.
