Overview
The 1966 Shelby GT350 is one of the most legendary names in American performance history – a true fusion of race technology and road-going power. This particular example, chassis SFM6S2042, is a rare and exceptionally original Ivy Green GT350 ordered with optional rear seat and factory “Special Wheels.” Restored and maintained by marque experts, it has won numerous concours awards and is considered one of the finest GT350s in Europe. A car with impeccable provenance, period media coverage, and an irreplaceable connection to Carroll Shelby’s personal circle.
History
Delivered new to High Performance Motors Inc. in California on June 9th, 1966, this GT350 was sold to Stanley Woodward, a personal friend of Carroll Shelby. It was exported to Spain, then moved to the UK in 1977, where it underwent a full restoration and was registered as XGH 606W, a number it still proudly bears today.
In 1995, the car was featured on the cover of Classic Cars magazine, following a string of concours victories. It passed through several notable British collectors, including Chris Evans, and in 2005, was returned to near-factory perfection by renowned Shelby specialist Roy Holmes, with a focus on the engine bay and chassis detailing.
In 2013, the car was acquired by its current owner, imported to Switzerland, and is now offered for sale through Drive Vintage. Fully documented, fully restored, and mechanically outstanding, this GT350 is a true investment-grade Shelby with real historic pedigree.
