This 1962 example, chassis number LSAE 639, is the last Silver Cloud II Drophead Coupé Adaptation of the 107 built. It was ordered by Boyd Hipp of Greenville, South Carolina, who requested a left-hand-drive, US-specification model with electric windows, aerial, and air conditioning. Mulliner installed various features supplied by London coachbuilder Harold Radford, including Perspex sun visors, a fitted locker with an ice thermos in the left-hand door pocket, a cocktail bar, and removable “toadstool” cushions for the rear bumpers to provide seating for elegant “tailgate” dining.

Mr Hipp collected LSAE 639 from Crewe in September 1962, with records indicating that the car accompanied him home aboard the Cunard liner, the HMS Queen Elizabeth. By 1970, the car had been sold to the second owner in Florida. While the later history is unknown, the Rolls-Royce was exported to Italy and retained by a collector until 2015. At this stage it had been repainted in a shade of metallic gold. The following year chassis LSAE 639 was acquired by the consignor, who then embarked upon a bare metal restoration.

Used by the vendor across the French Riviera during the summertime, this Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II retains its matching-numbers engine and may be enjoyed by its next keeper out on the open road or on display at concours events.
