Beschreibung

"When Porsche launched the 928 GTS in 1992, they knew it would be the last evolution of 928. Porsche did much to enhance performance and refinement, knowing that its luxury flagship would leave memories with Porsche enthusiasts. For the GTS, Porsche increased the engine capacity to 5397cc and added a catalytic convertor, with eight balance weights instead of six to enhance smoothness. This DOHC engine produced 350bhp and enabled a top speed of more than 170mph. The GTS engine was smoother and more flexible than its predecessor and was quieter and easier to drive. Changes to the chassis included a wider rear track and larger brakes. Externally, the GTS differed from S4 with its new style of alloy wheels, flared rear arches and a body-coloured rear spoiler. What Porsche wasn't advertising when the 928 was released was the price; it was among the most expensive cars on the road at the time. This severely hampered sales despite the model's high competency and long standard equipment list. Porsche discontinued the GTS model that year after shipping only 2,904 in total which in 1994 was a problem; in 2019 however, it has resulted in a rare and incredibly desirable Porsche.
This rare and very collectible black on black 928 GTS with manual gearbox has been owned by our vendor for over 10 years. After being in long term dry storage it has been extensively recommissioned by arguably the best in the business, 928 specialist Paul Anderson, with works including a full cambelt and water pump service. New brake discs and pads have been replaced as has both internal and external fuel pumps replaced with new Porsche parts. The car was repainted approximately 15 years ago and, unsurprisingly, is still in very good condition today. Supplied with the car is the Porsche service booklet with extensive and what appears to be complete history from day one and an extensive record of receipts from 2000 onwards including the servicing carried out recently by both Paul Anderson and GT One, a Porsche specialist in Chertsey during our vendor’s earlier ownership. Offered with a recent MoT, this is an incredible opportunity to own a rare and appreciating example of a classic Porsche."
