Beschreibung
- Desirable early, short-wheelbase 912 with three-gauge dashboard
- Mechanically restored by marque specialist SportClasse in 2020
- Matching-numbers engine and gearbox per Porsche Factory records
- Finished in original Sand Beige with brown leatherette
- A very original, unrestored example with fantastic patina
This early three- gauge 912 was supplied new in January 1966 through Porsche Cars Pacific of Burlingame, California. Finished in Sand Beige (6807) over a brown leatherette interior, additional equipment specified included chrome wheels, driver’s-side mirror, Blaupunkt Bremen radio, Sisal floor mats, and wheel center caps with the Porsche crest.
The first owner on record is a San Jose leasing agency, and the factory Kartex provides a second owner in Santa Clara, California. While the interim history is not known, the car, like many California Porsches, made its way to Europe.
This 912 was more recently sold into Portuguese ownership in June of 2018. Later that year, marque specialist SportClasse in Lisbon was tasked with rebuilding the 912’s drivetrain. While the unrestored and partly original paintwork and interior were left untouched, preserving the fantastic patina, the car received over $50,000 of mechanical work.
Accompanied by restoration invoices and photos and its Porsche factory records, this meticulously maintained 912 has a fantastic appearance that can’t be replicated. For someone looking for an early Porsche with the perfect patina, this car has the look.
