Chassis No. 9113310786

Engine No. 6631809

From the very last and fully evolved "longhood" 911 model-year, this desirable Targa was completed at the Porsche factory during March of 1973 as a 2.4-liter S example; the most luxuriously appointed and highest performing 911 model for the U.S.-market that year. Factory records indicate that the new Porsche Targa was finished in Silver Metallic over Black, just as it appears today, and handsomely optioned with Recaro sports seats, front oil cooler, fender strips, fog lights out front and tinted glass. The comprehensive history file accompanying the car reveals that the 911 S was acquired by the Morrill Family of Redlands, California in 1984, and would stay in their devoted PCA enthusiast ownership for nearly four decades. Enjoying the 911's high-performance and well-handling characteristics, the Morrill's would do subtle and tasteful, period-correct improvements to the 911 S Targa over the years, while not disrupting the DNA of the car or matching numbers status. They entrusted Toler's Auto Body to professionally massage the rear fenders out as seen on the 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7 cars to accompany wider Fuchs rear wheels, while they had Precision Motion of Colton, California rebuild the original engine with enlarged pistons and barrels for 2.80liters of displacement, while retaining the original crankcase. Precision Motion would continue to do service and maintenance work to the 911 Targa over the years, all which can be studied in the history file.

Today the Porsche presents as a lovely "driver-level" 911 S Targa, still in Silver over Black, with original paint appearing in jambs and compartments. The aluminum engine lid remains in situ, as do the fog lights and fender trim as factory delivered. The RS 2.7-style 6 and 7 inch Fuchs wheels are wrapped on appropriate Pirelli P6000 radial tires, offering excellent grip on twisty backroads. A great classic 911 for tours and drives such at the Ramshorn or Copperstate 1000 Rallies, this matching numbers "MFI" 911 S Targa deserves to be driven and enjoyed.
