Beschreibung

A rare short-wheelbase model delivered new through Porsche NetherlandsFinished in its original colours of Polo Red over black leatherette interiorRecent refurbishment included fresh paint, a new interior and an engine and gearbox rebuildSupplied with a NOVA reference number for a prospective buyer to begin the registration processSympathetically refreshed, this is a really lovely example of where it all beganPorsche's long-running and much-loved 911 sports car first appeared at the 1963 Frankfurt Show as the '901', but shortly after production proper commenced in 1964 had become the '911' following Peugeot's complaints about the use of '0' model numbers. The preceding Type 356's rear-engined layout was retained but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the bodyshell and dropped the 356's VW-based suspension in favour of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement. In its first incarnation, Porsche's single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled flat-six engine displaced 1,991cc. The first of countless upgrades to the perennial 911 came in 1966, two years after production had commenced, with the introduction of the 911S and in 1967 the 911T (Touring) was introduced as a new 2.0-litre model. Further revisions were made in 1969 when the 911's wheelbase had been extended by 57mm.Offered here is a 1968 Porsche 911T SWB produced in June 68 and sold new through Porsche Netherlands. Its original colour scheme was Polo Red and a black leatherette interior the same combination it wears today. Most recently the car has been the recipient of a full repaint and brand new interior. At the same time the engine and gearbox were rebuilt however, the car no longer has its original engineand instead is fitted with a later, type-correct, 1969 engine.Supplied with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the car was recently imported to the UK and hence is supplied with a NOVA reference number ready for a prospective buyer to MOT the car before beginning the registration process with the DVLA to obtain a UK V5c.Rarely do short-wheelbase 911s come to market, and this sympathetically restored and superbly presented example is the perfect candidate for entry to the rather exclusive club of early 911 ownership.
