OVERVIEW
After seven decades of outstanding engineering, design, and performance excellence, the Porsche 911continues to reign as one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced. Offered in a wide range of configurations suited to varied driving preferences, the uncompromising performance and comfort features of the 911continue to attract new generations of enthusiasts to the Porsche brand. Decades of racing expertise and motorsports participation remain key to the legacy of Porsche performance and durability, impressing legions of dedicated drivers seeking the very best in sports car design and engineering.

The fifth-generation 911, offered from 1997-2005 ushered in the first of the water-cooled engine platform that would come to define the decades to come. Retaining the rear-engine, rear-drive layout, the 996 benefited from ongoing years of improvements with a major update in 2002 offering design changes, mechanical enhancements, and the introduction of the much-vaulted all-wheel drive Carrera 4S. Beautifully refined and wickedly muscular, the C4S borrowed from the Turbo body offering wide rear hips, Turbo styling, and distinct front air intakes. The rear “Heckenblende” taillight strip connecting the taillights also served as another key design feature echoing the heritage architecture of the earlier Turbo models. A key element in the design and mechanical layout was conveyed in the 4S model with all four wheels receiving power from the impressive 3.6L engine.

This first-year Carrera 4S was delivered new to Westmont Porsche in Westmont, IL. Factory installed options delivered new include:

Natural Leather Grey (Black)

Advanced Technic Package*

Wheel Caps with Colored Crests

Supple Leather Front and Rear
Natural Grey Floor Mats

*The Advanced Technic Package includes Headlight Washers, Bose Sound System, Bi-Xenon Headlights, and 6 Disc CD Changer.

In December 2002, showing 12,000 miles, the car was sold to the second owner located in Northern California. The car was serviced regularly, accumulating 21,000 miles before being sold in 2004 to the third and long-term owner, a resident of Bainbridge Island, WA. For the next 16 years, the owner had the car regularly serviced at Porsche Bellevue, accumulating 69,000 miles when sold to the current owner in 2020. Impressively maintained and regularly serviced, a fresh set of tires were installed at 69,000 miles. In 2020, with 70,000 miles, the IMS bearing was professionally replaced, new axle boots installed, brake fluid flushed, and oil and filter changed.

Today, displaying 71,360 miles, this Carrera 4S presents beautifully with stunning and rare factory original white paint on all metal panels in excellent condition throughout. The exterior finish has been digitally metered delivering thickness readings consistent with original paint application. The front and rear bumper covers are nicely refinished (due to scuffs only, have photos from before paint). The glass is in excellent condition including a clear windshield, tight sealing side glass, and crystal-clear rear glass. The lighting and lenses are in excellent condition including the distinctive headlight lenses which feature optional Bi-Xenon lamps and headlight washers. The taillights and unique taillight band across the wide rear of the car deliver a menacing stance to this powerful performance car.

The satin silver alloy wheels are in excellent condition, accented by vivid red brake calipers perched inside all four of the wide sport-profile wheels. One of the more intriguing aspects of this era design is the flush Porsche rear wing. Unlike the raised whale-tail design of the past, when driven at speed, the active C4S rear spoiler raises automatically but can also be deployed via a footwell button. Impressive power from the 3.6 liter engine is all the more exhilarating with four-wheel power delivered on command under 6-speed manual delivery.

The interior has been very well-maintained with supple optional leather and premium Bose 6 CD disc changer audio system. The seating surfaces show no significant marks or prominent wear to the luxury materials which offer both a quality feel and comfortable support for performance driving. The dashboard, main cluster instrumentation, and easily accessed center console controls are all beautifully laid out and reflective of enthusiast care. Even the 6-speed manual gear selector seems to fit perfectly into the hands of the driver, ergonomically designed to offer high performance driving with desirable manual control. The dashboard and assorted instrumentation properly illuminate, displaying key operational features and systems status. The carpet, door panels, and rear interior surfaces are in excellent condition, appearing to have been minimally if ever used. The desirable sunroof operates smoothly and offers fantastic open-air motoring for sunny day driving.

The engine compartment has been thoughtfully maintained and properly serviced per Porsche recommendations including 16 years of service from dedicated experts at Porsche Bellevue during long term ownership. Porsche factory components are in excellent cosmetic condition and engine detailing has been regularly performed. Inside the front storage area, factory materials and features remain as delivered when new, offering ample room for cargo or small travel bags. The underside of the car, suspension and driveline casings indicate evidence of regular care, free from any significant marks or notable damage, consistent with the original paint and accident-free Carfax report. A complete set of owner’s manuals accompany the car.

With a history of unrivaled engineering, iconic design, and Porsche 911 heritage, this beautiful Carrera 4S offers classic elegance and race-derived performance. As beautifully maintained examples are becoming harder to find, this Carrera 4S delivers uncompromising quality, low miles, and enthusiast care, ready to tempt even the most disciplined steward into impromptu weekend getaways, sunset coastline drives, and exhilarating jaunts up to highway speeds.
