History:

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1949, the Porsche 356 Pre-A marks the birth of the Porsche legend. This example is one of only 343 1954 model-year convertibles featuring an all-steel body by Reutter.

🇺🇸 Rolled off the assembly line on February 1, 1954, this 356 was delivered new by the importer Hoffman in New York. It spent much of its life under the California sun (registered as 3EWJ494) before being imported to France in March 2003.
🇫🇷 The current owner acquired it in 2016 to begin a complete restoration project by the specialist Classic Parts France (150,000 euros).

📄 This example bears chassis #60400 with engine #P-33732 and transmission #2939. The car has matching numbers and is still in its original “Erdbeerrot” paint, an extremely rare color. This 356 comes with a comprehensive file containing invoices, the complete restoration dossier, as well as certificates of provenance from Porsche and Reutter…

Condition:

🚘 The car has been fully restored in its original color scheme: “Erdbeerrot” red, with a black soft top over beige leather. The bodywork was stripped down to the bare metal. The restoration work included a soda blasting treatment, complete replacement of the floor panels, center console, and side members, followed by repainting. The paintwork is of exemplary depth. A complete restoration file is available.

The interior has been completely redone to original specifications with high-quality beige leather, a black soft top, and a beige soft top cover.

🔧 The engine block (#P-33732) and transmission (#2939) are in very good working condition. The engine, transmission, and rear axle were completely overhauled during the restoration. The handling is impeccable.
