Only about ten authentic examples of this body style on the 12-cylinder 1934 Packard 1107 chassis remain in existence, as indicated by Edward J. Blend’s standard reference work on the model, The Magnificent Packard Twelve of Nineteen Thirty-Four. Among the survivors recorded by Mr. Blend is this car, vehicle number 738-35, which the author indicates was originally sold by Earle C. Anthony, the longtime and highly prominent Packard agency in Los Angeles, California. It was unusually specified with twin side-mounted spares, but with solid wood ‘artillery’ wheels, an uncommon feature by 1934.

According to Mr. Blend, the Packard was later owned by Streeter Flynn of Oklahoma; it was later kept for many years by longtime Packard enthusiast Ed Perkins of Connecticut. It was acquired for The Timeless Collection in 1999, and has remained well-preserved ever since. The Packard was refinished at some point in the distant past, and it is believed that the engine was replaced with another correct-type unit at some point in the past several decades. However, the car retains a marvellous degree of originality, including its interior and numerous finishes, such as the vehicle number plate, and the vehicle number stamping and assembly markings on the body wood itself. It is, in sum, a lovely American Classic in ideal driver’s configuration.

Please note this car will be taken to Nieuw-Vennep in the Netherlands immediately following the sale, and onward transport will need to be arranged from there.

Veuillez noter que cette voiture sera transportée à Nieuw-Vennep, aux Pays-Bas, immédiatement après la vente, et que le transport ultérieur devra être organisé depuis cette adresse.
