For decades, the name Opel has been synonymous with solid German engineering, reliability and forward-thinking design. In the 1990s, Opel put itself firmly back on the map with a coupé that impressed both technically and aesthetically: the Opel Calibra.
Introduced in 1989, the Calibra was a revolutionary sight at the time. With an exceptionally low drag coefficient (just 0.26), it was one of the most aerodynamic production cars of its era. The model was built on the Opel Vectra platform, yet gained a completely distinct, sporty identity of its own. The combination of clean lines, a low profile and a luxurious finish made the Calibra a firm favourite among enthusiasts who wanted to blend style with performance.
The 2.0i 16V version was known for its well-balanced performance: powerful enough for a spirited drive, yet comfortable and dependable for everyday use. This engine, paired with a manual gearbox, delivered a pure and engaging driving experience that remains highly prized to this day.
