Designed in-house at MG, with final styling by Farina, the new MGB was launched at the 1962 Earls Court Motor Show. Its appeal was instant, offering a huge increase in interior space while having overall dimensions less than those of the MGA. Introduced in 1967, the three litre, six cylinder MGC looked very similar in appearance to its little brother the MGB, but closer inspection revealed the bonnet ‘bulge’ and carburettor ‘blister’ together with torsion bar front suspension and 15 rather than 14 inch wheels, showing that these powerful little cars meant business.
This is a beautiful example, having recently been the subject of a restoration project. Finished in red with a black leather interior, it is sure to bring a smile to the face of any admirer of classic British engineering.
