Beschreibung
"The 450 SEL was first revealed at the 1974 Geneva Auto Salon. This new 6.9 was a fitting replacement for the original high performance saloon from Mercedes-Benz, the 300 SEL 6.3. The new car featured a three speed automatic transmission and with a standard ZF limited slip differential enjoyed enhanced road holding and traction. This Goliath of a car could achieve 0-60mph in just seven seconds and push on to 140mph. The 450 SEL combined a sumptuous interior with renowned engineering. This scarce model achieved fourth position in a poll conducted by Classic and Sports Car magazine in 1999, ranking the ‘world’s greatest’ ever saloons.
This restoration project Mercedes-Benz has been imported from the USA. We are informed that with fuel poured into the intake the engine will run and that recently a new battery, fuel filter and fuel pump have been fitted but some investigation and remedial work will be required to the fuel distributor. We are also informed that the previous owner has stripped most of the ‘furniture’ from the car in preparation for repainting. This included the window chrome, door handles, European lights and indicators, sunroof visor, front and rear bumpers, front grille and wheel arches. All these parts are offered with the sale. Please note that the Registration process will need to be completed by the purchaser. This is a tremendous opportunity to own a rare 6.9 Mercedes that could be considered a solid investment."
