Beschreibung

The 190E 2.5-16 was launched in 1988 and was equipped with an evolution of the 2.3-liter M102 engine with Cosworth head, with capacity increased to 2498cc and 204cv.

Although it was a «normal» looking car, the 2.3-16 and 2.5-16 are true sports cars, equipped in the manual versions with a dog leg Getrag gearbox and limited slip differential. In terms of aerodynamics, they had the best aerodynamic coefficient among the 4-door sedans in market at the time.

The 190E would eventually become an iconic touring racing car in the 1990s, with numerous victories in the most varied championships, including the DTM, ETCC and French Production, but back in 1984, at the inauguration of the new and shorter Nürburgring circuit, Mercedes-Benz promoted a race with all identical cars (2.3-16) driven by F1 pilots and F1 ex-pilots, that would be won by a then unknown Ayrton Senna.

This 190E 2.5-16 RÜF (non catalysed) version underwent a thorough mechanical renovation (proven with Mercedes-Benz bills) and features a vinyl decoration that aims to recreate the «mythical» car with which Ayrton Senna surprised everything and all beating drivers such as Alain Prost, Niki Lauda and so many others who lined up at the famous Nürburgring race.
