Chassis No. AM1072258

Engine No. AM1072258

Completed at Modena in May 1968, Quattroporte 4200 chassis number 2258 is reported by marque historian Fabio Collina of Maserati Archivio Storico to be one of just two examples finished in its particular color combination of Bianco Polo Park (White) over Senape (Tan) leather. Furthermore, its Maserati S.p.A. Certificate of Origin confirms that the car retains its matching-numbers AM107 engine.

The Quattroporte was registered on 12 June 1968 to Clara Benelli of Bologna, wearing Roman plates "F93440." It passed within the family to Tenuta Benelli S.p.A. in June 1970 and to Rubiesse S.p.A. in November 1976, before it sold in January 1977 to Federico Masetti Zannini, a young Bolognese enthusiast then aged 27, who re-registered it locally as "BO 697333" that July. With some 82,000 kilometers showing, the Maserati was placed in the back of a workshop, sheltered beneath a scaffold, and left. It remained there, untouched and undisturbed, until 2012-thirty-five years of accidental preservation, and the reason so much of the car survives as it left Vignale.

Masetti Zannini finally parted with his Quattroporte in February 2014, when the Bolognese specialist Romano Marchioni acquired the car and carried out a sympathetic mechanical and cosmetic recommissioning. Later that year it was sold to the current Swiss custodian, who imported it in September 2021 and embarked on a patient, well-documented program of sorting. Period-correct Pirelli Cinturato CN72 tires were fitted, Rudy Nafzger reconditioned and re-dyed the original upholstery and door panels in 2022, and Garage Oberalp and Garage Limacher carried out substantial mechanical attention to the steering box and column, braking system, and in 2025 a complete overhaul of the four Weber carburetors and both servos. Thus prepared, it passed Swiss veteran inspection in June 2025.

Offered today with an exceptional file of Italian registration documents dating back to 1968, the Maserati Certificate of Origin, and invoices documenting its recent recommissioning, this Quattroporte combines nearly four decades in single Italian ownership with the reassurance of freshly sorted, road-ready mechanicals. Few examples of Frua's understated Series II Quattroporte can claim so continuous a documented history, originality, or so distinctive a color as chassis 2258.
