Beschreibung

Introduced in 1969, the Ford Capri aimed to replicate the Mustang success in Europe. At the end of a decade where Ford had marked the history of motorsport with multiple victories, the marketing strategy of the blue oval brand obviously went on track.

Rapidly homologated in competition, the Capri will not derogate from the rule. Quickly winning on track or outside, it will know numerous evolutions to fit different regulations. In its RS2600 configuration, the car will know an indisputable success, notably winning the 24h of Spa in 1971 and the 24h of Le Mans in 1972! Numerous well-known racers have been behind the wheel of these 2600 RS including Sir Jacquie Stewart, Jochen Mass or even Klaus Ludwig.

This particular car is an homage to the Capri that sported the Lindrick Finance colors during the 1973 season. Recreated in 2018 by Ric Wood, the car is true to the period Group 2 specifications with its Westlake engine bored out to 2997cm3 and its lightweight bodywork.

Raced as soon as it was delivered, the car was maintained by Gipimotor and benefit from an FIA passport until 2028. Showing all its performance during the 2018 and 2019 Tour Auto, this Capri 2600RS already had its success and is eligible to major events like the Peter Auto championship.

Ready to race, the car can be seen at Gipimotor (Evere - Belgium) on appointment only.
