Very rare, original and street legal Ford Capri RS 2600.

The RS2600 Capri model is a homologation “special” manufactured by Ford of Europe to classify special competition parts for FIA racing.

The RS2600 Capri won every championship in its FIA division, including the 24 Hours of LeMans, European Touring Car, German Touring Car, and the Tour de France.

Prominent drivers like Niki Lauda, Jochen Mass, Jackie Stewart, Jean Todt, Hans Joachim Stuck and Dieter Glemser were among the pilots of the RS Capris and driving these legendary cars to many victories during the hey days of European Touring Car Racing. Unforgettable are the Ford-BMW wars of the early 70’s when the Capri RS battled the mighty E9 BMW CSL.

These “Germany Cologne built” homologation street RS models were never sold in the United States and came from the factory with a high compression, mechanically fuel injected 2.6l V6 motor. Our car is one of perhaps a handful in the United States and for sure the only LeMans green/white example with a period correct wide body in the world. 3522 examples of the street legal RS were built, less than 100 are believed to have survived. This is one of the rarest road going, high performance street cars out of Germany from the early 70’s. Period motor journalists dubbed the 2600 RS “The Porsche killer.”

Highly original, well maintained and mechanically sorted with complete owner history from new. Owner documentation goes back to day one. This example was never raced or abused. The car was taken off the road with a non op registration in 1991 and stored. All wide body parts, the rear wing and the rare BBS E30 wheels are from Fords official RS Motorsport Program, approved and documented by German Tuv in the early 70’s! All four of the BBS 3 piece magnesium rims are factory Ford stamped! A fascinating vehicle and a true European racing legend. Registered and road licensed in California since 2019. This rare RS is part of my personal collection since 2007.

The car runs and drives fantastic and is presented in selected shows and Cars and Coffee events in Northern California. Pay attention, you will never see another one!
It comes with a clean California title as well as the original German registration papers including the original title from 1973 and should be eligible for most historic tours, shows and events worldwide.

Der Ford Capri RS ist in ganz Europa eine Ikone! Die Rennerfolge der fruehen 70er Jahre mit namhaften Piloten wie Jochen Mass, Niki Lauda, Jackie Stewart, Jean Todt, Hans Joachim Stuck und Dieter Glemser sind legendaer. Unvergessen sind die rabiaten Zweikaempfe mit den schnellen BMW CSL in dieser aufregenden Zeit! Sternstunden der deutschen Tourenrennwagen Geschichte!

Unser Angebot ist ein deutsches Fahrzeug aus 4. Hand mit kompletter Historie und originalem, deutschen (Pappdeckel)Fahrzeugbrief. Rundverbreitert in den 70er Jahren mit Original Ford Teilen aus dem Ford RS Motorsport Programm.

Alles wurde in den 70er Jahren vom Tuv eingetragen und ist mit Seriennummern im Brief versehen. Weitestgehend unrestauriertes Exemplar, jedoch technisch ueberholt und in Deutschland in 2018 neu lackiert. Neue Bilstein Daempfer, neue Bremsen, neue Auspuffanlage, kontaktlose Zuendung, neue Benzinleitungen und Benzinpumpe. Im original Farbton LeMans Grün ein ganz seltenes Exemplar. Wir besitzen dieses Fahrzeug seit 2007, seit 2019 ist der Capri bei uns in Kalifornien.

Das Fahrzeug ist einer der ganz wenigen, unverbastelten und originalen Breitbau RS Capris ohne Renneinsatz. Vermutlich der einzige in LeMans grüner Werksrennlackierung.
Innenausstattung, Motor, BBS Felgen und alle Anbauteile sind original und unrestauriert. Selbst die originalen Pirelli P6 Reifen sind noch beim Wagen (natuerlich nicht mehr montiert).
Das Auto laeuft hervorragend und ist technisch in sehr gutem Zustand!

Der Capri wird zur Zeit im sonnigen Kalifornien bewegt und auf ausgesuchten Treffen oder Cars and Coffee shows gezeigt.

Von den Capri RS Modellen entstanden 3522 Exemplare, die allermeisten davon starben den Rost und Renntod. Kenner der Szene gehen davon aus, das nur noch etwa 100 echte RS weltweit ueberlebt haben. Ein Grossteil davon sicher als Schmalkarosse. Zeitgenoessische Breitbau Capris die in den 70ern mit korrekten Ford RS Teilen entstanden, sind kaum noch zu finden.
Ein Stueck deutsche Autogeschichte, ein Fahrzeug das von der Fachpresse als Porsche Killer bezeichnet wurde und viele Maenner zum Traeumen brachte.
