The model marked the long-awaited return of a front-engined V-12 grand tourer in the range, was conceived during the marque’s vaunted Luca di Montezemolo era, and boasted a six-speed open-gate manual transmission in addition to easy-on-the-eye styling by Pininfarina.

Finished in Rosso Corsa over a Crema interior featuring Bordeaux carpets, this 550 Maranello was supplied new to its first owner via official Ferrari dealership Stratstone Manchester on 1 March 2002. As documented in the accompanying service book, the car returned to branches of the Stratstone franchise for servicing on 10 occasions through to December 2017, with the odometer then noted at 7,290 miles.

A period of storage awaited the 550 Maranello thereafter. Accordingly, it was submitted to GV Performance of Hampshire for a recommissioning of the underside. The driveshafts, wiring, and suspension units were overhauled at a cost of £15,000, with the work documented in an accompanying photo album.

Further recent maintenance includes R&D Automotive changing the drive belts, suspension control unit, and fuel pump kit, in addition to fitting four new disc brakes in October 2024 at a cost of £8,396. Purchased by the vendor in April 2025, the car returned to the Eccles-based workshop in Greater Manchester for a replacement camshaft position sensor and clutch release bearing. Between the two visits Leeds Ferrari replaced the sticky switches in January 2025, while the car benefits from the application of paint-protection film.

Touting an incredible specification and with just 7,336 miles displayed on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, this hugely desirable 550 Maranello is supplied with its complete book pack and tool kit. It would make for a sterling addition to any Prancing Horse collection.
