Beschreibung

A fantastic European delivered left hand drive example to original specification with a complete and comprehensive service history from new and Classiche accreditation. In recent years the Boxer has been maintained by the highly regarded Ferrari specialists Bob Houghton. Indeed, they have just completed an inspection and service with clutch replacement.
In exceptional order throughout with great detail, this Boxer is a great drive and everything works as it should. It comes with all original books in the correct wallet, tools, keys, a substantial history file and the Ferrari Classiche red book.
This 512 BBi was one of the last built out of a production run of 1007 examples. It was ordered from and delivered when new by one of Europe’s oldest Ferrari dealers, Ch. Pozzi in Paris on the 9th March 1984, as documented in the original service book, to Richard Bass, a Frenchman living in Florida. He retained the Boxer for six years until 1990 when it was sold to a Dr Behner, a resident of Hamburg. Dr Behner kept the car for five years selling it in 1995 to Mr Thomas Neelsen, another German resident who had a complete mechanical overhaul carried out by respected Ferrari specialists, Sauro, in Bologna. Work included an unleaded conversion and interior refurbishment by Luppi.
In 2004 Mr Neelsen sold the BBi to Anke Funks, a collector in Saarbrucken.
The last owner, an Englishman with a notable car collection, purchased the Boxer from Ferrari main dealers Eberlein Automotive in Kassel, Germany as detailed in the original invoice on file in December 2006. In July 2007 the car was fully inspected by Maranello Concessionaires, a full service was completed and any area requiring attention was addressed as detailed in invoices on file. Since then the Boxer has been maintained very diligently by Maranello and later by the highly respected Ferrari specialist, Bob Houghton Ltd, to ensure that the car remains in perfect working order and ready for immediate use. A substantial history file of invoices documents the maintenance.

In November 2013 full Ferrari Classiche Certification was issued and the red book comes with the car as does a plaque testifying to this on the rear bulkhead. In 2015 the Boxer was awarded second place in the Pirelli 1980’s Supercar Event at Blenheim Palace and featured the following year as the best example of its type at the Salon Prive Concours event.

In superb, indeed concours, order throughout with fantastic detail, this must be one of the finest examples of a late Ferrari Boxer in existence. The drive does not disappoint, it remains tight and fluent and everything works. It has just returned to Bob Houghton for an inspection, service and new clutch, emerging from them with a clean bill of health.
