Beschreibung
The Berlinetta Boxer, formally referred to as the 365 GT4 BB, made its global debut on the Pininfarina booth during the 1971 Turin Motor Show as a display prototype. However, it wasn't until the 1973 Salon de Paris that its commercial launch commenced, foregoing the opportunity to succeed the 365 GTB/4. Its standout feature was the rear-mounted engine, aligning the 12 cylinders on the same horizontal plane as the crankshaft, which led to its Boxer designation.
Meanwhile, when the BB 512 was officially unveiled at the 1976 Salon de Paris to succeed the 365, production had already commenced several months earlier. The new name stems from Berlinetta Boxer, 5-liter, 12-cylinder engine. While the power output remains unchanged, it's achieved at a significantly lower rpm, 6,800 instead of 7,700. In terms of aesthetics, the car sees several alterations including a front spoiler, a redesigned engine hood, air intakes for the rear brakes, and a shift from six to four lights. Additionally, the rear wheels necessitate an enlargement of the wheel arches by approximately 2 cm
The one offered here was purchased by its current owner a decade ago. The timing belt was replaced in June 2015 and again in December 2019. It will be delivered with its maintenance booklet and user manual in their pouch, along with the tool kit, billing history, and, of course, the Ferrari Classiche dossier.
