Completed by the factory in March 1973, this attractive 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta was built for the European market. It is noted to have been delivered new to the official Ferrari importer for Switzerland, Société Anonyme pour la Vente des Automobiles Ferrari (SAVAF), and delivered to its first owner, Mr. Bellevue of Geneva, soon after. In 1975, the 365 GTB/4 was acquired by its second owner in Portugal and a year later, it moved to Sweden under the ownership of several keepers until 1983, when the car was exported to the U.S.A. and registered in Virginia.
In 1986, the serial Ferrari collector Mr. Stanley Cohen, of Windsor, Connecticut, bought the car and it is thought that under his ownership, the interior was retrimmed with the beige leather upholstery that can be seen today. The car subsequently passed to noted collector Herb Chambers of Somerville, Massachusetts and later an owner in Providence, Rhode Island.
By 2004, the 365 GTB/4 was acquired by its most recent long-term owner, who would retain the Ferrari for the next 16 years. In this ownership spell, the car gained Ferrari Classiche certification in March 2006 and the accompanying “Red Book” issued states that the serial numbers listed for the body, chassis and engine were recognised to match factory records, while the gearbox is of the correct type. In addition to the “Red Book”, the car is presented for sale with many accompanying accoutrements that one would hope for in a Daytona, including a 365 GTB/4 owner’s manual and assorted books, a well-documented history file, and a leather tool roll. The odometer shows just 24,322 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.
With its slender-yet-powerful stance, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta cuts an imposing shape. The impressive front-mounted V-12 “Colombo” engine is the perfect match for the car’s attractive looks; combining to deliver both power and comfort within a famous model from Maranello that effortlessly blends the attributes of an acclaimed sports car and a grand tourer for the ultimate Ferrari package. Finished in the timeless colour combination of Rosso Chiaro over beige Daytona-style seats, this 365 GTB/4 will fit beautifully into any Ferrari collection.
