By the mid 1960s, Enzo Ferrari had decisively developed a preference for his 2+2 road cars when it came to picking a car for his personal use. Elegant, understated, reasonably practical, yet also with all of the visceral character and performance that define the Ferrari marque, these GTs were the perfect choice for the successful businessman rather than the wealthy playboy.

Powered by a new 4.0 liter variant of the venerable Colombo V12, the 330 GT 2+2 was more modern in appearance and higher performance than the 250 GTE before it. In 1965, the Series II variant of the 330 appeared, with a 5-speed transmission and revised front end treatment with two headlights instead of four, echoing the contemporary 275 GTS.

This particular car was sold new in December of 1965 by Crepaldi, the Ferrari Concessionaire in Milano. Its first owner kept it for nearly 40 years, selling it via Bonhams auction in 2004 to an owner in Monaco. That owner retained the car until 2011, at which point it was exported to the United Kingdom. While in Monaco, the car received a retrimmed interior, and had been repainted in the mid 1990s in its original color of Grigio Notte. The car remained in the UK until the current owner bought it in 2014 and exported to California, where it has remained since.

In 2019, the car received a thorough service, including all fluids (engine, transmission, and differential oil, brake fluid, coolant), and new spark plugs. The brake calipers were also rebuilt, new pads fitted, and the cooling system restored with recored radiator, new hoses, and new thermostat. Compression was also checked and miscellaneous minor adjustments performed.
