Beschreibung

Returning to Furlonger for sale is this superb Ferrar 308 Group 4 Michelotto Recreation with Tour Auto eligibility, finished in Pioneer livery.
Chassis #32419 is one of the rare examples originally manufactured with dry sump lubrication and Weber carburettors, making it eligible for those wanting to compete within FIA Group 4 competitions. In 2015/2016 the car underwent a nut & bolt restoration, prepared for Group 4 to the specification established by Michelotto in period.

The main parts within this specification were; a reinforced chassis, glass fibre doors, bonnet and engine cover, lightened bumpers, Makrolon side windows, Termic windscreen, larger radiator, new AP racing brakes, hydraulic handbrake, braking balance bar, hand built group 4 dampers and a quick release steering wheel. Overall the car now weighs just under 1,100 kg, making it 200 kg lighter than a standard GTB.

Fully prepared by JMR Motorsport, the 3.0-litre dry-sump engine runs on overhauled Weber carburettors. It has been completely disassembled, blueprinted and rebuilt, incorporating new forged pistons; special steel cylinder liners; new valves, springs and guides; and a balanced crankshaft. In addition, the oil pumps have been overhauled; the water pump updated; and the ignition system overhauled with new plug leads and more powerful coils. The ignition, cam timing, and carburettors have been set up on a dynamometer, the engine being found to produce a highly respectable maximum output of 297bhp, which is transmitted to the gearbox via a new hydraulic ceramic clutch. A previously new and unused unit, bought from a Ferrari concessionaire, the engine has been run for at most 20 hours since the rebuild.

Since completion, the Ferrari has participated in only a handful of events all in 2016: at the Costa Brava Rally, the Rally 2000 Virages (2nd position), and the Alp la Masella hill climb (1st position). It has also participated in track days at the Montmelo and Calafat circuits in Spain.

Highly practical and relatively easy to maintain, this Group 4 308 GTB is an enticing prospect for the Ferrari enthusiast intent on experiencing the thrills of historic sports car racing in events such as Modena Cento Ore or Tour Auto. Complete with an extensive history file filled with invoices, receipts and other documentation, this 308 GTB is an outstanding example not to be missed.
