In the early 1970s, Ferrari was working on a slightly bigger brother for the Dino 246. In contrast to the 246 and other models of that time, it was not Pininfarina who was allowed to draw the coach, but competitor Bertone. Bertone was invited to Ferrari's headquarters and the plans for the new project were quickly drawn up.
Gandini, then working at Bertone, designs the 308 GT4. No line is the same as its predecessor, but the concept remains the same: a compact sports car with a mid-engine. Where the 206 and 246 Dino had a six-cylinder, the 308 GT4 and later 208 GT4 have an eight-cylinder engine behind the four seats.
Initially the model bore the Dino logo and the prancing horse was not found on the car, but from somewhere in the middle of 1975 the two-plus-two-seater was finally sold as Ferrari, with Ferrari logos on the bodywork, wheels and The wheel.
For years the 208 GT4 and 308 GT4 have been undervalued, but in recent years that has been completely different. More and more enthusiasts appreciate the beautiful Gandini creation and that translates into a high appreciation of the model.

This 308 GT4 dates from 1975 and is in a particularly beautiful condition, partly explained by the fact that the car has already been restored and overhauled in the past. After that, the car was cherished and only used selectively, so the condition can still be described as 'very nice'. Recently, by which we mean 'a few months ago' in this case, the car underwent major maintenance by a specialist, including replacing the distribution.
The Dino's bodywork has a neat dark red paint finish, with a beautiful deep shine and little to no signs of wear. The doors close neatly and the fits are all very neat. The body seams are also all nice and even and straight. The 308 has neat wheels and tires of the correct size.

A look into the interior provides more pleasant surprises. The upholstery is largely original and in beautiful condition, with the black leather upholstery combining beautifully with the dark red exterior. The condition of the upholstery is beautiful, which also applies to the headliner and the black carpets. The chairs are just as good as they look. The rear seat is like new and offers space for smaller people.
The dashboard is fully functional and also very attractive with all meters and instruments. The controls also work properly, with a large part housed on the dashboard and a part, which Ferrari did not lose there, in the center tunnel. The original factory-supplied Borletti air conditioning can also be found there.
The 308 GT4 has Ferrari's well-known 2,926 cc eight-cylinder. With four Weber DCNF carburetors, the 308 has about 255 hp. The power source has been well maintained and does its job with great pleasure. The entire car is in top condition, so the driving characteristics will not disappoint.

The 308 comes with the necessary documentation and a stack of invoices showing that the car has always had the love it deserves. Recently, in August 2023, the car was technically completely fresh, so it is a matter of 'turn the key and enjoy'!
