The Citroën DS is undoubtedly one of the most ambitious, influential, and distinctive automobiles ever produced. Introduced for 1956, nearly 1.5 million examples were built through 1973, comprising the DS19, DS21, and DS23. Universally praised by auto magazine road testers and owners, the DS earned consistent accolades throughout production for its uncanny ability to waft almost effortlessly and at heady speeds over the roughest roads while delivering amazing passenger comfort. Lovingly known as the “Goddess,” the DS stands as a benchmark for unbridled creativity and innovation in automobile design.

This 1971 Citroën DS21 features the range-topping Pallas trim level and upholstery option, which was first made available on the DS series in autumn 1964. Approaching the prestige and comfort levels of custom coachbuilt vehicles, the DS Pallas ranked among Europe’s finest cars when new. According to a copy of its Carte Grise registration document on file, this example was sold new in France and remained there until at least 2001. Entries in the accompanying Citroën service booklet confirm the vehicle received dealer service from the time of its purchase until November 1976 with 27,624 km (17,165 miles) accumulated. Subsequently, the Citroën was sold to the Netherlands and then in 2015, it was purchased by the Mullin Collection. In addition to the aforementioned documents, this highly equipped Citroën is accompanied by service records, correspondence, and import paperwork.
