This 200’000 Swiss francs rolling tribute to the legendary BMW 507 was normally equipped with a 4.9 litre V8 delivering 400 horsepower and a six speed manual gearbox. For those who preferred their James Bond film hero from “The world is not enough” with an automatic gearbox, there was the possibility to order, for an additional 10’000 francs, one of the 555 examples built by Alpina. These cars, equipped with the Alpina F5 4.8 litre V8 “only” had 381 hp but this was compensated by an increased torque and the cars are in no way slower than a manual example. The car we have on offer, #218/555, was one of the 449 Alpina Z8s originally delivered to the USA. Registered there on the 26th of September 2003, the BMW was eventually acquired by the vendor from its first owner in 2017 and imported into Switzerland. He enjoyed his sports-cabriolet during summer months and made sure it was always thoroughly maintained. With now 101’000 kilometres driven, the Alpina is in good to very good original condition. The last MOT was completed in May 2021 but for a Swiss buyer the MOT will be renewed after the sale.
