The Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 was in a way the ultimate evolution of the original Austin Healey 100, Retaining the defining light British roadster feel of the original car but with overall upgrades like disc brakes and improved performance. Epitomising a golden age of British sports cars while showcasing the best of sixties automotive design with its signature long hood, low silhouette and distinctive front grille.

Inside, this example features a refined walnut-veneer dashboard and wind-up windows, adding a touch of sophistication to the driver-focused cockpit. Other options included wire wheels, Overdrive and a heater.

This particular car was finished on the 23th January 1964, soon after it was dispatched to the U.S.A. Originally delivered in a Colorado red exterior with a black interior. The car now presents in a beautiful old English white exterior with a black leather interior. It rides on Black 72-spoke wire wheels.

The car eventually found its way to The Netherlands, where, in 2021, the current owner was handling the sale of his Bugatti Type 37. He fell in love with the 3000 for sale at the same dealership and decided to bring it back home to Sweden.

The new owner was not interested in keeping the car original. Instead he wanted to create a car perfect for the hilly and twisty roads of southern Sweden. All while retaining a capability to take care of the occasional track day.

The owner commissioned Austin Healey specialists Sideways Engineering to start the project. They added sport suspension all around, new rear disc brakes. A straight-cut Sebring ratio competition gearbox paired with a fresh road engine with aluminium cylinder heads making an impressive 184 bhp. A 45 L FIA approved fuel tank, 4-point harness and a strong but easily detachable roll-hoop. A full list of the executed work can be found at the bottom of the text.
