"The result of a joint venture, as its name suggests, the Austin Healey was built at Longbridge before moving to the BMC works at Abingdon. It evolved from the timeless 100/4 to accept a bigger six-cylinder engine followed by the larger still three litre unit, or ‘3000’. All three incarnations looked superb and drove equally well hence their regular use within motorsport. The 100/6 could comfortably exceed 100mph, a big deal back then especially at a time when a Ford Popular would struggle to reach 70mph.
This privately owned delightful 100/6 is presented in opalescent blue with contrasting black trim and accompanying wet weather gear. Originally registered on 3rd December 1956, this six-cylinder example has had a colourful existence touring Europe and appearing in the 2008 Hollywood blockbuster, The Bank Job, starring the actor Jason Statham where it featured on Terry Leathers forecourt. When reviewing the paperwork, we can ascertain that the car was fully restored in the 90’s, the repairers at the time were Autotek, Guildford and they believed the car to be originally owned by Donald Healey himself however we couldn’t find any corroborating evidence to support this.
More recently, in 2016, our vendor took the car to Europe and toured the Alps. Since its return, the car has been treated to a recommissioning with Tower Garage in Marlow, invoices for which can be found in the history file and they detail a number of fettling issues and improvements. The history file also shows invoices and photographs of the restoration and bills from previous owners, much of which were fulfilled by Austin Healey specialists, Rawles.
Offered with an original workshop manual, owners handbook, Heritage Certificate, extensive history file and in lovely condition, this is a very attractively priced Healey that begs to be driven and enjoyed this summer."
