Beschreibung
The Aston Martin V8 Vantage was introduced to the world in 1977, the ultimate high performance flagship derivative of Aston’s V8 model that was first launched in 1971 in the form of the DBS V8
The initial development of the all alloy quad cam V8 engine had begun in the early 1960’s within the competition department at Aston headed by John Wyer and by the mid- sixties Aston were experimenting with prototype engines, one of which was fitted into a DB5 for road development as well as racing specification engine fitted into a Lola T70 chassis, becoming the Lola-Aston Martin
The rarest and most desirable of the V8 series were the Vantage models produced between 1977-1990 and just 367 cars were constructed. There were effectively four series of Vantage, the final and most powerful versions were known as ‘580X’ and built between 1986-1990, with just 137 coupe models produced
The works record issued on 11th September 1987 shows our car was specified in V580X RHD configuration, finished in Chichester Blue coachwork with Magnolia hides and 5 speed ZF manual transmission, making it one of eight right hand drive manual 580X saloons in this specification
Supplied via main agents Stratton Motor Company to first owner Mr C.Rowe and appropriately assigned with his cherished registration ‘759 CR’, the extensive historical file contains the original factory warranty card and service booklet outlining its rigorous maintenance history from new
Maintained correctly from new as evidenced by one of the most comprehensive files we have seen in recent times that documents ongoing regular ‘no-expense-spared’ maintenance by some of the most well-respected AM specialists that include HWM, Desmond J Smail, Wren Classics, Chicane Classics and Pugsley and Lewis
Eagle eyed enthusiasts will recognise this car as being one of the most well publicised Vantage’s, having previously featured as the cover car in the March 1999 ‘Classic And Sportscar magazine – Aston Martin Vantage- Taming 432 bhp of brutish British icon’ and cover car again for the December 2002 ‘Classic Cars Magazine’ complete with tire smoke billowing from its rear wheels!
Awarded the Valspar Trophy at the 2005 AMOC concours at Kingston Lacy, the Vantage was later featured on the cover within an article in the Summer 2018 issue of the excellent ‘Vantage magazine’
We are delighted to offer this wonderful 580X from a noted private collection in the UK where it has been cherished, benefitting from a suspension and braking system overhaul 4000 miles ago by Aston Service London in 2024
Supplied with extensive historical information from new including original owners book pack and original service book, comprehensive service records, copies of original works record and magazine features, the Vantage has now covered a total of 83,725 miles and recently returned from an enjoyable 1500 mile trip across France
