Beschreibung

"The first Aston Martin to be engineered at Newport Pagnell following the company’s departure from Feltham in 1964, the DB6 was launched at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1965, just one month after production had started. The model ran until July 1969 with a total of 1,327 saloons built before the Mk. II version arrived. Refined from the previous DB4/DB5, this model change involved more structural engineering rather than mechanical, as Aston Martin realised market appeal sought larger rear seat space. Increased wheelbase was achieved with an additional four inches inserted ahead of the rear arches and combined with a two inch increase to the roof line, the DB6 gained capacity for a comfortable rear seat. A ‘Superleggera’ Grand Tourer for the family man was introduced that offered 60mph in seven seconds whilst luxuriating in Connolly leather and Wilton carpeting. The 60’s DB6 driver also benefitted from electric windows and in-car suspension adjustment courtesy of the Armstrong Selectaride system. Visually, a split front bumper offered intake for the large oil cooler whilst the rear became instantly recognisable with an aero-efficient ‘Kamm tail’ which featured a small upswept spoiler reducing lift. According to its British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate, this lovely example originally left the factory in Dubonnet Rosso but is now presented in Gold with a Webasto sunroof. Its matching number engine is mated to its factory fitted Borg Warner automatic gearbox and comes with factory fitted power steering and heated rear screen. The interior is beige leather which is in good overall condition and it also comes with its original workshop manual and DB6 Instruction book. In 2016 the present owner had the engine completely rebuilt to 4.2 specification by Aston Martin specialists Pugsley and Lewis Ltd in Beckenham for an eyewatering circa £39,000 ( invoice and details in history file) and the history file also contains many other invoices for various works carried out over the years, old tax discs and MoT test certificates.
