Beschreibung
The Aston Martin DB6, launched in 1965, represented a stylish evolution of the DB4 and DB5. The aesthetic tweaks were subtle, with the most notable being the new 'Kamm tail' rear configuration, which had the primary benefit of improving stability and traction at high speeds. The wheelbase was also lengthened, with the aim of increasing on-board space and comfort on long journeys.
Under the bonnet, the DB6 retained the iconic 4.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine designed by Tadek Marek, here mated to a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. This configuration suited drivers seeking performance and effortless handling. With a top speed of around 225 km/h and refined power delivery, the DB6 Automatic did not betray the brand’s philosophy and offered a unique balance between sophistication and sporty driving.
Finished in Olive Green Metallic with a beige leather interior, this DB6 is one of 1,462 cars produced between 1965 and 1969 and was purchased by Mr. R. A. Smith in Sheffield in April 1968. Owned until 2005, it was reluctantly sold due to his advanced age of 92 years old and arrived in Portugal in 2007.
This 'full matching numbers' DB6 has a very nice patina and is very original, including the Webasto sunroof, power steering and the essential Motorola radio. It is accompanied by all the relevant documentation, including the prestigious 'British Motor Industry Heritage' certificate and an extensive file folder with a complete service history.
