Strange how an automotive feature that was introduced for primarily practical reasons can be seen as a thing of beauty, many decades later. The brand-new Porsche 911 Targa wears the wide, metallic bar – once needed to address U.S. safety regulations – first seen on the 1965 car of that name...

Revealed today in Detroit (unfortunate to launch a drop-top in the tail-wind of a polar vortex, but hey…), we think the retro Targa styling looks stunning atop a modern 911.
