In 1956, Peter Monteverdi began to construct racing cars, under the name MBM (Monteverdi Binningen Motors). In 1967, MBM began producing high-performance luxury cars. Its first model, the 2-seater Monteverdi High Speed 375S coupé, debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show to a great reception. Production ceased in 1984.
