It was a difficult task to succeed the legendary Citroën DS! The CX, which came off the production line in 1975, literally changes its style and marks the difference with the less radical but equally elegant design by designer Robert Opron. The CX will also have a long career and if it does not present any major technical evolution, it is nevertheless the first Citroën with a transverse front engine. At the launch only 2 engines will be available, a 2l and a 2.2l with carburettor. The Citroën CX is quickly a success and sales exceed 100,000 units by 1975. In the summer of 1975, the CX range is completed with the Comfort, Super and Pallas finishes, the version we are interested in today. No doubt the fans with the chevrons understood the interest of setting aside the most beautiful examples of the worthy successor to the DS.
The CX presented in these pages is a Pallas version of the 1978 model year. The paint is in Beige Opal ref AC 078, the engine is the 2l model coupled to a mechanical gearbox. The car is presented to us in an exceptional original condition because according to its history, it would have only 23 000 km of original. Indeed the general condition of the CX is superb and still has its first paint and the interior, except the driver's seat which is a little worn, is in new condition. Originally the car is staying in the Aveyron and has the registration 4113 LK 12. It is carefully guarded by its first owner who only used it occasionally until the beginning of the eighties. In 2000, when the car has only 21 000 km and after a period of immobilisation, the owner's family undertakes a refurbishment such as changing the exhaust line, replacing the 5 spheres and repairing the brakes. More recently the water pump was replaced. Kept in the B family since the beginning, the current owner acquired it last year. Rare are the first versions of CX Pallas for sale and even less in this exceptional condition. This copy will therefore appeal to an enlightened amateur.
