Description

"Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing program and it was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of 'Project 930' - the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0 litre Carrera RSR engine, in road trim a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph. In 1978, the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3 litres, gaining an intercooler in the process; power increased to 300bhp and the top speed, of what was the fastest accelerating road car of its day, went up to 160mph. But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best equipped 911 and amazingly flexible, hence only four speeds in the gearbox, being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds.
This sleek looking matching numbers example of the world famous 911 turbo was registered in January 1983 and presents extremely well in gleaming black paintwork with a black leather interior. The history file for this stunning car is as impressive and contains nearly every MoT test certificate dating from 1986 alongside an original service book and plenty of original paperwork including correspondence from franchised Porsche dealer AFN to the purchaser. Also included are spare keys, key card and toolkit. Following some success at winning concourse and competition events during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, the then owner of this 911 got the bug for success and spent considerable amounts to ensure victory. The outcome of which can be seen in the number of trophies that accompany the car. The vendor shows as only the third owner of this Turbo. During his five year tenure, this car has benefitted from low mileage use and the fitment of new brake pads and discs to front and rear, a new clutch, new parts to the front and rear suspension, a rebuild of the gearbox and new tyres all round. We are informed that prior to sale this 911 Turbo will be serviced at Northway Porsche who will also issue a fresh MoT test certificate. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document and the funky cherished number plate, this car is a well estimated head turner.
