Description

"The 420G was a rebranded Mk. X and was the top of the range for over a decade. It boasted independent rear suspension, unheard off for early 1960s British luxury cars, combined with the 3.8 litre or the 4.2 litre, triple carburettor engine as fitted to the E-type, it gave Jaguar's flagship a top speed of an incredible 120mph. Do not be confused by the 420 however, indeed the difference between the Mk. X and the 420G was the addition of a vertical central bar splitting the grille in two. Interior changes included perforations in the central sections of the leather seats, padded dashboard sections for safety, moving the clock to a central position.
Acquired in 2011 by the vendor, this 4.2 litre 420G presents in above average condition throughout with just two minor imperfections. Presented with factory specified two-tone paintwork of tan over bronze, there is minor welding to the nearside rear sill but this appears sound. There is also minor corrosion to the offside front wheel arch and a crack to the rear door. The interior leather shows patina but the woodwork is in good order. The history file shows an extensive MoT test documentation as well as invoices and a valuation by none other than classic motorsport specialist, Duncan Hamilton. Inspection is recommended.
Interested should note that whilst this car starts and runs, a through mechanical overhaul would be required prior to normal operation.INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD NOTE THAT THIS CAR IS NOT REGISTERED IN THE UK AND, AS SUCH, DOES NOT COME WITH A UK REGISTRATION DOCUMENT. IT IS SOLD WITH A BILL OF SALE ONLY."
