Description

"The John Cooper Works LE 40 was launched in 1999 with a build run of 300 cars. This limited edition model was created to pay tribute not only to 40 years of Mini but also the 40th anniversary of the Cooper F1 World Championship. The LE 40 was only available in the striking combination of Brooklands Green with an Old English White roof with a Grenadine Red leather interior.
This LE 40 was purchased by our vendor in 2017 as a small project which became a total restoration. The outcome of which is a joy to see. The photographic history of the works completed show this Mini receiving a replacement of the front floorpans, new inner and outer door sills and new sections of the rear quarter panels followed by a bare metal respray. The wheels have been refurbished and fitted with a new set of Yokohama tyres. The engine underwent a complete rebuild and is now a 1320cc with a stage two head and Kent fast road cam. During the process a large number of parts were replaced including injectors, water pump, coil, leads, all hoses, brakes, the clutch master and slave cylinders. The transmission has been totally overhauled and fitted with a turbo clutch to cope with the modest power upgrades. The car has completed a mere 500 miles since the works were completed. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until June 2021, this truly outstanding Mini is now described as being completely rust free and presents immaculately in the authentic colour combination for this limited edition model."
