Rare, reliable and elegant car

The influences shown through the shape of the 203 are American. Well inspired, Peugeot had to react in the aftermath of the war and will announce the revival of the Sochaux brand by showing technical innovation and stylistic bias. The Peugeot 203 cabriolet presented here is a car with a clear history, in the same family since 1971. Its history is singular because it was bought in the spring of that same year to an American student in Paris, in a hurry to return to Uncle Sam's country. Sold at a symbolic price in exchange for the payment of the numerous tickets piled up in the glove box, our convertible left the streets of the Latin Quarter for the peaceful roads of Touraine. It would therefore have had only three different owners, as shown by a copy of the old car registration document. As a second family car, it made daily trips to school and gradually became a real collector's car with the use we know them to be. Our convertible comes in a beautiful burgundy colour combined with a beautiful dark brown leather interior. The beige alpaca soft top has recently been changed and the mechanics have been the subject of great care by the Aventure Peugeot. The chassis is in good condition with no visible corrosion and the bodywork, repainted a few years ago has been well executed. Maintained regularly like the other cars in the collection by an extremely meticulous mechanic, a file retraces the slightest operation carried out on the car over the last twenty years. The 203, with its attractive American-inspired design, was a real hit with the public. So it's only natural that this car continues to fascinate a large number of collectors. In its convertible version, built at 2,567 units only, it is both elegant and rare. There is no doubt that our car with its clear history and in good condition is intelligent choice.

This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in Sochaux, at the Aventure Peugeot Museum, France, on September the 20th, 2020.
