Description

"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY
The Peugeot 205 was produced between 1983 and 1998 and was declared 'Car of the Decade' by CAR magazine in 1990. The styling of the 205 is often thought to be a Pininfarina design, however Gerard Welter, Peugeot's chief designer, claims it as an in-house design. The car is often credited as the car which turned Peugeot's fortunes around. The GTi version came in 1.6 litre and 1.9 litre engine derivatives and is considered one of the very best hot hatches of all time. The 205 GTi is still known to offer a very rewarding driving experience and is still mentioned to this day in group car tests of the newest GTi models or equivalent. Peugeot itself never truly recreated this success in subsequent GTi models, although they came close with the highly regarded GTi-6 variant of the 306.
This cherished example of the iconic ‘hot hatch’ is presented in the desirable combination of Graphite with red and grey half leather interior, red carpets, sunroof and also comes with electric windows. This wonderful car has only had two owners from new, the present vendor being the second and purchased it in September 1990 with 25,000 miles on the clock at that time. The car is accompanied by its full original documentation including owner’s handbook, maintenance booklet, owners guide, warranty/service guide, Philips cassette guide and full service record. The present owner has had the car regularly service by the same engineer since 1990, and in 2018 it was fully recommissioned by this engineer (having been SORN from 2001 to 2016), records of the work can be found in the history file. A superb example of this exciting French sports car of the flamboyant 1980s, this example is still looking as great today as it did just over 30 years ago.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
