Description

"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY
The TR3 was launched in October 1955 and was essentially the same as the TR2 but with 95bhp courtesy of larger SU carburettors and inlet ports. Visually it differed in having an egg box grille, stainless steel strips along the body panel joins and the option of an occasional rear seat. The only mechanical change occurred over late 1955/mid 1956, when the ‘high port’ cylinder head, as used on the works TR3s at the 1955 Le Mans 24 Hour race, was fitted, raising power to 100bhp at 5,000rpm.
This wonderfully presented example was built on 28th March 1957 and delivered new to Wadham Bros of Southampton with special upgrades to the front and rear suspension. In 2004, the TR3 was treated to a mechanical overhaul and more recently the car has been the subject of a major restoration. During the restoration the TR3 was stripped and a full respray was undertaken. The original engine was refreshed and a new overdrive unit was fitted to the gearbox. The drivetrain was also extensively overhauled including a suspension upgrade with poly-bushing and anti-roll bars to 'tighten up' the cars handling. The chrome wire wheels and bumpers were both restored and the wet weather hood and tonneau cover replaced.
ROR 999 is offered in very good order throughout having completed very little mileage since its comprehensive restoration. The body, paintwork and interior all present in very good order, and it is reported to run and drive as it should. A sizeable history file is offered with the car and includes many old MoT test certificates, various invoices and photographs detailing the restoration process, the Heritage Certificate, and a UK V5C registration document. This is a great opportunity to acquire a well sorted example and ready to be enjoyed by a new custodian.
The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
