Description

Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato 1966 RHD

Chassis nr: 815533 1539

Engine nr: 815500 1467

Zagato body nr: 338

Lancia was without a doubt the Italian car manufacturer who always searched to be at the top of the technological evolution.

In the 50-ies, it became clear that the front wheel drive (FWD) traction would be the future.
The launch at the Torino motorshow in 1960 of the Flavia was Lancia's answer to that evolution.
Its advanced technical concept took everybody by surprise. Apart from the FWD, the Flavia featured also a newly developped all alloy horizontally opposed flat four-cylinder engine (lowering the point of gravity) and 4 wheel disc brakes. At that time a courageous step but certainly the correct one.

The FWD was for Lancia the upgrade to an interminable (15 years!) sequence of competition victories with the Flavia, Fulvia and Stratos. One of these highlights was the 1965 victory at the Coupes des Alpes of the French pair René Trautman/Claudine Buchet with a Flavia Sport Zagato.

Our top-of-the-range and rare (only 626 ex produced) Flavia Sport Zagato was fully prepared and upgraded in that spirit. Roll cage, period bucket seats, rally equipment, Borrani bi-metal wheels, etc...
A well documented restoration file describes in detail the works from 2006 to 2009 on the aluminium body, the original drivetrain and 1.8 liter 815500 engine, the actual racing drivetrain assembly with a 2.0 liter 820200 engine (both drivetrains are included in the sale).

After this lenghty preparation the last Italian owner enjoyed very much his Flavia Sport Zagato in all sort of historic rally and track events:

- Gran Premio di Bari: 2011
- Fornovo-Monte Cassio: 2012
- Goodwood Festival of Speed: 2013
- Vernasca Silver Flag: 2012, 2014, 2015,
- Pontedecimo-Giovi 2011, 2014, 2015
-Stella Alpina : 2016

This competition prepared and properly "shaken-down" Lancia is now ready for a new historic competition enthusiast who will have all the fun, without having to break the bank.
Attractively priced at: 66.000€ (much less than what it costed to restore and prepare this Flavia Zagato).
